Logistics Management Specialist

This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-12. At the GS-11 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-12. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher-level work, and availability of funds. Additional duties include but are not limited to:
Develops supply chain metrics to identify business objectives; Plans and executes approved strategies and provides supply chain expertise to improve supply availability with a focus on supporting the health care system; Resolves logistics, supply, distribution, information, and service problems; Analyzes the effectiveness of logistics and vendor support services; Identifies changes to governing regulations and conflicting directives; Develops designated supply input for fiscal year and long-range plans and programs; Prepares detailed reports and proposed plans for implementing cost savings methods; Monitors computer programs, software, and hardware to determine efficiency in meeting supply requirements; Provides technical assistance in the areas of logistics planning, integration support, and requirements; Recommends changes to procurement actions such as quantity increases, cancellations, cutbacks, delivery rates, and ordering periods; Serves at the technical advisor and consultant to top management and respective program managers on both logistical and general management matters; Develops logistics and supply chain management training opportunities; Provides administrative and technical oversight to lower-graded specialist; and, Performs all other duties as assigned. Experience:
You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Logistics Management Specialist, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is experience assisting specialist and/or managers in supply chain management activities; analyzing product delivery or supply chain processes to identify or recommend changes; performing or assisting with data analysis, and statistical analysis to identify improvement opportunities. This position requires some degree of specialized knowledge of logistics support activities in areas such as acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management and/or control, expendable and non-expendable equipment, and warehouse operations. NOTE:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related, from an accredited college or university. Equivalent combination of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond the second year) and specialized experience, as described above, which may be used to meet total experience requirements for this grade level. The education portion must include graduate courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the Logistics Management Specialist position and must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. NOTE:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
