Physician (Hospitalist)

The incumbent physician will serve as the primary point of accountability and work to maximize efficient use of available resources in the section of hospital medicine. The physician will maintain high clinical standards to provide guidance on the decision-making processes surrounding resource use and allocation. This physician will be responsible for the leadership, education, and training of professional staff at VAPA HCS with a significant portion of time (up to 0.85 FTE) dedicated to improving patient flow, utilization management, and length of stay within our medical center. The remainder of the time will be spent in direct patient care activities. Duties to include:
Provide specialized diagnosis and treatment of acute inpatient diseases to veterans at VAPA HCS. Serve as primary attending for patients in Med/Surg (2A, 2C, 3C) and the Intermediate ICU wards Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with acute inpatient diseases according to accepted standards of care. Supervise, teach, and mentor medical residents and medical students; participate and promote educational activities within the section of inpatient medicine. Participate in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance projects and other administrative duties as assigned. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Experience:
The qualified candidate will be board-certified in internal medicine and have at least five or more years of hospitalist experience. He/she will have a demonstrated record in administration through leading successful improvement initiatives at a VA medical center. Reference:

Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement is required. This is a designated drug testing position. After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use. Requires lifting 15-44 pounds; pushing (approx. 2 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers and both hands; walking and standing from 3-5 hours and kneeling. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Must have depth perception and ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors. Hearing aid is permitted.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
