Training Instructor - Simulation Specialist

The employee works independently with Simulation Directors and the Nurse Educator of Simulation to execute the educational, technical and operational aspects of clinical simulation training and education in a Simulation Center. The employee is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and consulting on a variety of programs and promotes the values and goals of the VAPAHCS Simulation Center. Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Works independently to execute the educational, technical and the operational aspects of clinical simulation training and education in simulation environments in support of curricula designed by clinical experts and other clinical subject matter experts; - Independently manages the Set Up and Take Down of various activities in the simulation center including mannequin-based and Standardized Patient (SP) simulation exercises or workshops; - Provides technical support for a wide variety of highly sophisticated and complex simulation equipment including anatomic models, task trainers, screen-based simulators, full-body computerized patient simulators and virtual reality systems; - Participates in developing, organizing and conducting educational courses or events that use clinical simulation technologies; - Operates mannequins, simulation programming, Audio/Visual systems and medical equipment during simulations; - Anticipates and/or troubleshoot any issues related to the simulation exercises before, during and after exercises as necessary, and provides documentation of such issues; - Makes recommendations on integration of new equipment and technology; - Performs preventive maintenance on equipment following the manufacturers recommendations; - Demonstrates knowledge and skills represented by clinical practice in a health care setting; - Works with hospital biomedical engineering for troubleshooting or installing medical equipment in the Simulation Center (equipment used in the simulation center is often the same equipment that is used in the hospital); - Performs other duties as needed. Experience:
Requires at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal Service and would have demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and the methods and techniques of instruction. Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); supervising or administering a training program; development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis; delivering simulation based training in a healthcare setting; and assisting learners and faculty in the use of clinical simulation equipment. Requires successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Education must include a major study in education, or a subject area related to the position to be filled. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED):
Requires equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate-level education and specialized experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. Only education in excess of a master's degree (excess of 36 semester hours) may be used for this requirement. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
