Major duties of this position will include:
Maintain current knowledge of procedures, policies and directives to provide to employees when requested. Coordinates on-scene actions between different disciplines. Ensure crime scene preservation and evidence collection are accomplished in a technically correct manner. Coordinate with outside law enforcement agencies as required. Ensure appropriate notifications are made in accordance with standard operating procedures. Identify training needs for subordinate staff and informs them of available services and activities. Ensure that evidence property receipts are accurately completed. Coordinates and processes any evidence that requires special handling/testing or destruction through the appropriate organization. Ensure officers maintain proficiency in each of the weapons and that certification does not lapse. Work Schedule:

Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. The duties of positions in this series require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Sufficiently good vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required to perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible, and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself, or others is disqualifying.
