The Groupon SEO team is responsible for Groupon revenue derived from search engine referral traffic. We do this by extending and enhancing groupon.com to give users a better experience. Our team launched Groupon's first on site search and Groupon Place Pages and the Groupon Guide. The SEO team provides core web page services to nearly every team at Groupon. We do detailed Reporting & Analytic and A/B testing of SEO factors to improve the ranking of millions of pages in the google index. We act as consultants for other Groupon teams on SEO best practices and to help develop content and linking strategies. Our scope is worldwide -- we are expanding our reach into Europe and beyond.

Responsibilities:
You will work within a small team with a free hand whose work cuts across all parts of the Groupon product.
You will contribute to the architecture and design of the core services and systems for delivering web pages and applications tailored for organic search and end users alike
Own and develop key parts of pages directed at collecting User Generated Content (like tips and votes), and making content from many sources available to end users.
Own the quality/reliability and scalability of these systems
Mentor, motivate, and foster innovation in other team members
Requirements:
At least 3 years of experience in software design and development
Previously worked on API service based systems used in high performance situations.
Relevant web development experience using RoR, node.js or similar stacks
Experience with HTML/CSS, front end javascript including jquery and single page application frameworks
Experience with Mobile applications and responsive design
Experience with large scale distributed systems utilizing technologies such as PostgreSQL json, HBase or other document stores for persistence.
Experience with relational database systems like MySQL
Good understanding of instrumenting and optimizing software to maximize business metrics
Experience developing layered architectures.
Experienced with an iterative development process
Experience in a startup environment a definite plus
Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills.
BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science or equivalentEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
