Scope of Position:
Design, prototype and test electronic communication modules.
Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Lead product-oriented electronic hardware development projects, contribute to a growing electronics and software design capability, and support the Optical Connectivity Solutions business with general expertise in electrical engineering. Design work is done in multidisciplinary teams and may involve multiple sites. New applications and products demand flexibility and a willingness to learn new technologies but provide the opportunity to contribute in many areas including system design, ASIC development, communication protocol implementation and embedded software integration.
Qualifications:
Required Education:
Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
Required Years and Area of
Experience: 5+
Required Skills:
Circuit and PCB design with commercial and custom digital and mixed signal ICs, programmable logic and microcontrollers.
FPGA and CPLD programming, synthesis and simulation using Verilog/VHDL
Knowledge of high-speed signal integrity design, impedance control, noise and crosstalk mitigation and PCB layout; design for EMC, emission control techniques
Experience with debugging/integration and use of lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, BERTs, Time domain reflectometers
Familiarity with high-speed transmission, networking and data protocols: line coding, data scrambling, USB, Thunderbolt, Ethernet, HDMI, PCIe
Familiarity with embedded-software interfacing; knowledge of C/C+
with RTOS
Scripting/programming skills to support test automation and manufacturing transfer
Desired: familiarity with IC Design and verification, JTAG, wafer probing
Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership):
Ability to plan work to achieve technical requirements and meet business targets; ability to identify and mitigate technical risks, communicate plans and project status.
Team player with the ability to work with embedded software developers and mechanical designers to achieve excellent system performance.
Travel Requirements:
Some domestic and international travel requiredEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
