HortonWorks, Inc. has openings for Quality Assurance Engineer positions in Palo Alto, CA. Act as key point of contact for specific QE Hadoop components. Provide technical guidance in automation test, methodologies, processes, tools, and techniques within the team and across the teams. Prepare and present status updates for various projects. Assign functional, regression and stability test execution to QE team members. Responsible for providing leadership and guidance to QE resources internally and externally. Establish and evolve formal QE processes, ensuring that the team is using industry-accepted best practices. Will oversee four Quality Engineers. No director supervisory duties, and not management level position. Any management duties are ancillary to position. Develop maintainable test automation frameworks, tools, and automated test suites, in response to growing feature sets and our customer requirements. Work with open source community to scale up test automation practices, and provide robust releases. Set up, develop, maintain, and enhance production staging environments and tools; as well as, help tune production cluster configurations, and debug system level deployment issues. Call upon experience in SQA and software development, including modern CI processes; Agile/Scrum processes and code review; knowledge of Windows Server with experience in automated SQA practice in a Windows application development environment; knowledge in scripting languages (Python, batch, PowerShell, or comparable); and Java development skills including reading and writing Java code.
Employer will accept Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering or related technical field, followed by five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in job offered or five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in a Quality Assurance Engineering-related occupation. Experience must include: 1. Designing and developing testing tools using Java, Shell scripts and java script; 2. Developing maintainable test automation frameworks, tools and automated test suites and leading testing efforts; 3. Understanding of Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins, and various testing frameworks such as jUnit, Selenium; 4. Experience working with linux systems, debugging system deployment issues; 5. Experience working with Hadoop clusters and related systems; 6. Performing functional testing, end-to-end testing, stress testing, and advanced aspects of system testing automation; 7. Working with the open source community and providing robust release for high availability production environments; and, 8. Solid knowledge of API-level client/server testing in Java.
